Thursday... it was an interesting time of year.

People people people...... they crack me up. Ive had 4 calls/emails about people wanting projects for Xmas presents. Gee....... either they think im Mc Donalds or I have a magic wand. Why not wait till Xmas eve and call, LOL. Hey I do appreciate the inquiries but still...... I thought most women (not stereotyping but thats who calls this time of year) did there shopping like 6 months out. Guess not when it comes to car chicks, LOL.
OK.... so I have posted a couple pictures. These show the Black Chevelle with its painted stripes and the first shot of the 65 Plymouth. I have to paint the thin outer stripe yet and attach some hood lettering. Of course the Chevelle needs all its emblems before clearcoating. Also note the holes in the hood of the 65, yep hood pins. Thank you HWY61, LOL, since I have depinned many a car I have extras around. In the end they will be the smaller new style ones they do but since they just started doing it I haven't stockpiled any and have to use the fatter ones on this car. No biggy since when finished they will look great.
Something else on this 65 is the interior. This customer has a unique roll bar that I had to duplicate. I did it actually about a week or more back... but after viewing the pictures again I decided to try something out of my comfort zone...... to push my abilities. Since his real car has a detachable swing out sidearm to access the car I thought.... why not try to build it that way. So another hour or two later I had accomplished what I set out to do. An actual working swing out arm like his real roll cage. Ive attached a couple pictures. This being redone from original I still have to sand a fill the seams but you can see how I fabricated it. Mind you I have done roll bars before but nothing with a working swing arm. Im sure this is nothing for the high modder guys but for me its something I can now add to my little black book..... the one where I replaced all the hot young women with diecast tricks, LOL. Sad sad day for this old dude, LOL.
I will touch on the stripes a little more and then its off to work. The reason I paint 99% of my stripes is the fact that decals will not lay smooth over body contours. This is something I have found over the years especially on GM cars with cowl hoods or those unnamed Ford movie cars that have stripes from the bottom of the front end to the bottom of the back end. Decals just wont lay right so masking and painting is the only way to go. Longer in time but nicer in contrast to the other way.
Ok.... so here is my rant for the day. Some might know that in early Oct my new little PT Cruiser was stolen but then recovered 5 days later. I did however have all my personal stuff in the car, ie: checkbooks, license, debt cards, discount card for Wilma's House of Hottie's, LOL.. no that a joke, but anyway. I had to close all my accounts and open new ones. No big deal.... shit happens and that was the least of my problems. Getting the car back trumped all that anyway. So while in the waiting stage for my new debt card I had a phone bill due to QWEST.. assholes, LOL..... anyway I call them and they say I can pay it online with a check. This is good since I now have the new account and well need to pay it. I go to the website, sign up for the online account crap and tend to paying the bill. All whopping $76.00 of it. No problem, were all good...... I get my confirmation and move forward with life.
Yesterday im getting ready to make a call and I have no dial tone. OK I think maybe Vonage (business line, internet based phone service provider) is having a problem. I look at my internet modem and I notice the internet light out so im like WTF... we did have some clouds and wind but that shouldn't take the DSL down. So I grab my land line phone and call QWEST. Oh wait...... I cant that line isn't working either. Can ya guess where this is going ? If not maybe you should go back to 5th grade, LOL. So now im really stumped and grab my cell, which works like shit in the house, and call QWEST. After fighting with the automated attendant , which I love to do.... "Is XXX-XXX-XXXX the number your calling about ?" No asshole im just call to frickin talk...... ugh ! So I say Customer Service..... which is replys " Please enter or say the number you are calling about" ..... which leads me to yell BLA BLA BLA into the phone. Then its says " im sorry I didn't get that number" Which leads me to say 666-666-6666, hehe...... got them now, LOL. Heck I figure worse thing is the devil gets on the line says something about have a room available for me, LOL.
Anyway..... after this fiasco lasts like 2 minutes I get a human NOT someone named Abbib, Achnod or anyone Indian with an American name. So I say whats up with the service, is it out due to the wind we had and was politely informed they had shut my service off.... to which I reply WTF! Then I calm down a little and realize they are just doing there job but was told apparently I entered the wrong info from my new checking account when I paid the bill. I said...... ok , guess that can happen but I cannot check it.... since I DONT HAVE INTERNET RIGHT NOW! I said gee, you shut it off....... without telling me, thats nice. She says...... well we did mail you a letter about it not being able to be processed yesterday. Im like ok ....... does that really make any sense ? Really now, how stupid is the company you work for ? QWEST shuts off your service because the payment didn't process. You then send a letter AFTER you shut it off. Gee simple logic tells me when the service is shut off the person will CALL RIGHT AWAY! No need to spend however much money to send paperwork since the person will call you about it ....... but hey im not QWEST.
So of course she says well since it didn't process (mind you this isn't a bounced check, I entered the numbers wrong) you will have to pay the full amount due. Im like ok .... its $76.00 shes like no its $142.00. I said wait I don't have a bill showing that to which she says well its in the mail. So I don't have a bill with current charges but have to pay all of it to get the service back on? Wow, I said I should do that...... tell people to just pay me what I want without providing them with a bill for what they owe. Anyway...... I paid the TOTAL and QWEST turned the service back one.
I hate QWEST... there idiots im my opinion. Have only had there service since I moved to the west coast and would rank them right up there with a sharp stick in the eye. But unfortunately they are all I have available to me in the barren land called the desert so I have to do what I have to do.

John, I just went back and looked a the photos. That roll bar is incredible. I love the way it hooks into the support bar next to the driver. A great idea.

Thanks...... but whats funny is I learned from that how to do it even better on the next one. Man this is fun stuff. I hope I never have to grow up and get a real job, LOL.

I did actually say that to a woman this week...... I can guarantee Xmas delivery if its Xmas 2008, LOL. Thats the point of the blog, all the little things people have no clue about. Mostly just time consuming announces but still, part of everyday life.
