Tuesday.. the back to normal day

First off I want to thank all of those who responded to my grumblings yesterday. I appreciate it and do believe a couple things mentioned by different people are correct. I do need a vacation...... be it fishing (which I don't do) or just some time away.... playing with these all day does at some point burn you out a little just like any job.

I thought back and realized its been at least 18 months since I went on any vacation and even then it was only a 4 day one. Heck I told my sister yesterday my vacation this year was moving, LOL. Yeah, packing, driving, unpacking and back to work in a week.... that was a vacation, LOL.

Ok.......... so I have 4 cars cleared and now finally ready for polishing and assembly. The plan was 2 leave yesterday and 2 today<Wednesday>. So first up I figure I will skip ahead a little since I had to wait for the underhood paint to dry on the 2 Corvettes that were leaving I would get the little Nascar car finished. Well that went as planned and it was done and ready to go so off to the 06 Vette.

Ahhh...... its going to be a good day....... NOT, LOL. So this is a Hotwheels 06 Corvette. Simple LeMans Blue repaint. This was actually the last Xmas delivery order I took and it being just a Vette repaint I figured no problem, right ? The C6 Vettes are made by a couple companies. Most are made a little different as in all diecast cars. In this case the difference is the headlight covers on the Hotwheels cars are separate pieces. So while getting ready to assemble the car I dump out all the parts and pieces that need to go on the body, take a quick inventory and were ready to go. This of course is done AFTER the car is polished out.

As I start the assembly things going back on just fine....... marker light here, tailight there.... then ut oh.....Im missing a headlight cover. No biggy its got to be here.... its wrapped in masking take so it doesn't get scratched so it cant be hard to miss. So the search ensues...... and continues...... and to no avail I will say. So I sit back and think... the car was in a bin with the other 30 bins I have here..... but I do move the bins around as needed so im thinking I might have had it pop out and bounce into another bin. So now I search all 30 bins.... and nothing. But I will say there are some pretty cools cars getting done. Well....... my thought process now leads me to believe, maybe the part bounced out of the bin and got knocked on the floor behind the shelves I have the bins in. So now I start digging on the floor behind the tables that the bins are ne and again, nothing.

UGH !!!!!!!!!! not again !!!!!!! UGH !!!!!!! I hate this business, LOL. Now I have a one eye cyclops that has to get shipped for a Xmas present, UGH. But wait...........I have an idea. See I have a 06 C6 that was damaged last year and I redid a new car for the customer so the damaged one (Fed Ex never took it back after paying the claim) is sitting in the parts bin, I can use that headlight cover. Yeah I can but not without modding it, see this is an AA car........ AA makes the whole nose of the car in one piece in clear then paints the body color on it. Yeah , stupid huh ?? I thought so too but..... its all I have. So I go about cutting just the headlight cover off the nose piece and then measuring for trimming purposes. Its a little to big so off to the grinding wheel.... then a little test fit and some black paint around the outter edge and install. I must say..... it looks factory. So...... as pissed as I was my creative ability (and a parts car) allowed me to fix the problem and get the car ready to ship.

So lastly I have to polish and assemble the other Corvette. This is the 54 that was a gold issue car with all the gold trim. Thanks Al if you read this for the White 54 parts car. So I already had all the parts off the good car ready for the painted car and started my assembly and within an hour or so it too was done. Whew....... 3 ready to go and I was only supposed to get 2 ready so im kind of ahead of schedule, YEAH!

Well before they leave I have to shoot a picture. I then package and box for shipping, 3 day super saver so everyone gets theres by the end of the week. One last car to do today and that will get shipped and the "rush" will be over. I still have a couple cars I want to get ready, pictures taken and shipped by Monday but the MUST HAVE cars will hopefully be all gone tomorrow.

These make 11 cars shipped in the last 10 days. No wonder im cranky, LOL. Well one more and then I can goof off for a couple hours.

There will be no rant today........ just cant do it, LOL.

Ok ... im out
