Thursdays words and things
Ahhh Thursday..... what a day it was...... I guess, LOL. Weird day... I will say that. I did wake with a nasty headache..... which I can associate to the humid weather we had here when I got up (it was 83% at 6am). I found that on most days the humidity is high I wake with a headache. Hey, pop some Advil/Tylenol and away we go, NOT.
So as the day progressed, headache intact, I did a whole lotta nothing for the most part. I finally had a chance to clean my work area since its been burning the the late night oil lately. Ok....... not really late night, more early in the morning but still it was a mess. So I got that all back to normal.. if you call it normal. I did have DBII beg me to shoot a picture and post it, LOL........... of a clean work bench, WTF are you kidding then is looks like I have all the time in the world on my hands, no way..... I want you all to feel sorry for me and all my work and problems and whining baby like complaining, LOL. I cant let ya'll know it can actually be nice and normal here, LOL.
So I did a couple, more things to the last Black Roush Mustang I have to get shipped. This is the problem wheel car that took months to come up with something. I have some engine detailing to do and some shading on the Roush decals on the body and it can get assembled and shipped.
I was working on a wheel yesterday for a project and have found a new silicone molding product that for short term that seems to be great. Its a 2 part almost clay like material (silicone) that once kneaded together cures in 20 minutes. Its great since after its kneaded you just push your item in (this works for 2 piece molds) and let it dry. After which you can kneed another piece and use it for the second part of the mold. Then when dry you can remove the master piece and pour away. I do see though that is really wont last for like pouring 100 pieces as its not as flexible as normal silicone mold product but hey this shit is fast and thats what I wanted.
So...... I had never done a 2 piece mold before and I have some 30 molds here for everything from hoods to wheels to scoops to engine parts. I know how to bang out a normal mold but this was my first attempt at a 2 piece and can honestly say.... I only had to try it two times and this second one is perfect. Whoo hoo..... im one smart dumbass, LOL.
So last night I get a phone call from the guy who owns the "problem" Camaro. Leaves a message while I was gone about a couple problems. Mind you he wont get the car until today but has seen the 4 -5 pics I emailed them. So I call him back and he says, LOL.... its Roger owner of the NIGHTMARE CAMARO, lol..... with a laugh. We talk a couple minutes and he then informs me that the roof of the diecast should be black not body color. Something that in the crappy pictures looked the same color as the body. Remember boys and girls what it took to make it smooth for paint...... all that for nothing since I had shitty pictures. I explained that and said I would fix it. Then he says the mirrors should also be black. Something again I didn't see in the pictures since even after the car was done and I was informed of having to do the ground effects on the side rockers the pictures sent were of the lower side and I couldn't see them. I told him I am NOT an expert on that style Camaro or any Camaro for that matter and expressed my Mopar love to him, LOL. Then he tells me his exhaust tips are black and not chrome..... again something that really wasn't noticeable in the pictures sent and lastly the calipers needed to be body color, which they are he just couldn't tell in the pictures.
So we then chuckled over the stripe situation and after explaining in detail he understood and then I told him about Doug's thought that he just remove the stripes form his real car and it will then MATCH the diecast car, LOL. He laughed I laughed and well....... I told him to send the car back after the holidays and I will make the minor corrections. So......... I guess we will see if anything else is a problem before then but at least the stripe wont be, LOL.
Well....... I wanted to rant about something but really don't have anything to rant about. I mean, now that the stress of the rush is gone I can get back to playing with toy cars and having fun again. I live in a place that affords me a view of the mountains while I work, sunshine most every day and temps in the mid 60's in late December.... what more could I want. Oh yeah...... a personal SEXatary would be nice..... hehe, she could take DICKtation..... or work on my HARD drive, LOL......... wow did this take a wield turn, LOL..... guess im back to normal today, LOL.
Lastly I want to revisit my post yesterday about the customer who priced his car out 3 times in the last 3 years. I came to find out exactly what I thought and that was he is shopping the project around to some other modders. While most are capable of building the car for him I think the reality is he wants it for pennies and nobody will do it for that. Guess he will keep shopping. Actually what he needs to do is find a plastic/model builder and have it done that way. It would be cheaper since they can save ALOT of time with his roll cage using parts from model dragsters and sectioning them in. Oh well.... not my problem.... I wont be doing it since he didn't like my figure 3 years and we all know it sure insnt going down, LOL.
On a positive note though I did get 2 emails from customers of recently completed car and both were rave reviews and thank you's for the great job duplicating there cars. The one was a simple repaint on an 05 Mustang while the other was the 02 Camaro convertible conversion. Always nice to hear the thank you words..... makes it all worthwhile sometimes.
Sorry for the shitty pictures it was one of those rare overcast rainy days here when I shot them.
