I'M BAAAAAAAAACK!
Well kinda that is. Im back and BJ's is over but im still very sick and recovering.
So....... what did I learn at Barrett-Jackson ? First off its a dog and pony show. Lots of fluff and basically its only a 2-3 day event. Craig Jackson is a marketing genius I will say that. The presentation put on is fabulous but in reality the only worthwhile action is late Thurs., Fri, and Sat. If I am going to do this show again I will hire someone to work the booth from Sun-Thursday.
Let me explain in simple mathematic terms. Sunday-Monday cost $15.00 to enter with seniors and kids free. This equals, being honest not mean, alot of lookie loos. Just wanting to see what its like but had to save up there pennies to get in.
Tuesday they up the charge to $25.00 as its the actual start of the auction with the not so perfect stuff being sold at way more then its worth. These tend to also be the same type of cars on Wednesday and with these cars you get the guys looking for a deal. You know... the, if I order this and this what do I get for free, kinda guys.
Then on Thursday the price jumps to $35.00 for everyone and the kids are like $15.00 this is when things change.....as I quote, " What do you sell ?" <we explain>, " I'll take one". What !!!! You don't want a T-shirt and a free poster and the bottle of water im drinking, LOL..... but seriously.... it does change that much. Friday and Saturday are for the rich and wealthy... basically the bums on the street pay $50.00 just to walk around. The difference in people is huge.
Ok..... well I was sick as many of you knew but felt better on Sunday then Monday got very ill again and basically had the flu or a virus all week. Between the chills, and sweating, coughing, falling asleep and the 9am-9-12 pm work hours not including the hour drive each way (65 miles one way for me) my body is pretty worn out. I will be taking the next few days to recharge and get healthy. I am still sick but got about 16 hours sleep yesterday that I needed so... everything will be fine soon.
Lastly...... we did have some stars stop by and I got to talk to some car people that I hope will help bring to life my concept. I will divulge more of that in the coming days. Right now its time for some oatmeal.
Ok.......im out
