Monday mumblings
So this will be a rather boring update as Friday was spent getting cars ready for clear coat which IMHO isn't worth camera time. It basically involves putting all the doors, hoods and trunks on the cars. See I don't need to spray clear on them separate as I have stated due to shooting the car in my version of single stage. This way the body gets all the clear and the jams and under hood and trunk are glossy too.
So ..... part of the pre clear process is recreating the emblems that go on the cars. This is a method I will not disclose so again I will not be providing pictures of that, LOL.
The setup for the emblems though can be very frustrating since it involves in some cases using the emblems/decals/logos the customer has provided, uploading them or scanning them into my computer then cleaning them up in my photoshop program and uploading them, resizing them and test printing them for size. Check that sentence out its 52 words long, WHOOO HOOOO !!!!!!!! Im an english major, LOL, well major dumbass, LOL. But hey its my blog and I don't care, LOL.
With this comes a lot of time in the photoshop process. Heck Friday after noon I spent at least 2 hours cleaning logos for a sprint car that needs to be clear coated.
Friday I did get in some cars I had ordered for some projects. One was a Mercedes SL coupe for a guy who owns the car. Well ..... see he called me about doing his Corvette which lead to this. He had seen my ad in a Corvette magazine and wanted to price having his done...... again, once quoted over the phone (this was at least a month ago) he did the "Oh, I didn't think it would be that much" line. UGH!!!! Maybe I should play the lotto so when I win I can say, thats ok , I will make it for you for nothing. Yeah right and that will happen the day I become a 400# oriental woman, LOL.
So as we talk he asks about his "other" cars. So his stable is a 66 Corvette Roadster, 2005 Range Rover (big one) and a 2004 Mercedes SL 500. Wanted versions of all of them. So after the Corvette we move to the Range Rover..... at which point I tell him I would have to do a standard repaint..... bla bla...... X amount of dollars and he says......... naa, I don't want to spend that much. Ugh... me do U car free, meister...... me no charge U no money meister.... me happy oriental women to work for free, LOL.
So then we move to the Mercedes and I tell him the car is already made like his and he should just search then internet. He then tells me he's a busy man and doesn't have time, can I search it for him and let him know where to buy it. Ugh, yes meister...... me service U every need and not want no money, me U personal internet bitch (sorry youngins reading this, its life), me do what u want.
Ugh.... the ignorance of some people, it does amaze me. So I said well, sure, give me all your shipping info and a credit card and I will find one and get it shipped to you. He then says well I don't want to spend more then $50.00 and I say........ thats fine I'm sure it will not be more than that.
Yeah....... at this point I have spent about an hour with him so....... he's paying for it. I then do some searching and locate the car. The car though I cannot purchase until I placed this larger order for more vehicles but did so and he is now getting his car..... with shipping at $50.00. See the total I have in the car is just over $16.00 and the shipping will run just under $10.00 meaning that I made about $24.00 for the hour dealing with the idiot. Yes I called a customer an idiot. He owns whats probably a couple hundred grand worth of cars yet doesn't want to spend more than $50.00 for a diecast version. Basically thinks because I play with toy cars I have no value and can do his bidding for him. Hell I should have charged him $75.00 .... that way I would have gotten an extra $25.00 for the idiot factor.
OK, to answer a couple questions people have had in comments and emails. First off...... Doug..... there is no new news about Sheryl at Staples, LOL.
Carl...... you will see your Woodie as soon as I get it back on the bench. Keep checking as its coming soon.
Joe & Chris, your 73 Challengers will be coming. Creation for me takes time and the inspiration to do, so its something that just hits me. Your continued patience will be returned in a truly one of one.... ok , one of two, LOL, Challengers not made in the industry.
Mike.... you will see your Posey Challenger interior build along with the elaborate roll cage work in the Gurney AAR Cudas very soon.
To any other customer..... just check in daily as you never know what I will be in the mood to work on.
OK......... I'm out.
