Wednesdays wonderings

So yesterday was decal test day....... it was an early failure but in the end I do believe we have everything in order to go forward now. See on some cars I cannot use my process and actually need to print decals on a decal sheet. Sometimes that though takes a little more effort as once printed they have to dry good then be clear coated with a spray can so they can be dipped in water for application. The first set didn't respond well so I had to redo the 26 decals that go on the sprint car.

Ok..... while preparing cars for clear the 69 Camaro I'm doing gets fender hockey stick stripes in Black. This is normally handled by decals that are made from Fred Cady Decals but...... upon checking I have no more Black ones and since these are intricate I needed to try and find some. See I have been spoiled over the years on these stripes since they were made in 1/18. Now with his retirement there are no more to be had and after contacting a couple sources and not finding any I needed to try something else.

First off was locating a pair of White ones and my initial thought was to tint them Black but..... if I did that and it didn't work they would be wasted. So I figured I would scan them and then make them Black in my photo shop program. Well these are White on a White background so that didn't work. Then I decided to use a fine line marker and outline the stripes and rescan. That didn't work either..... so now I am at a loss but ...... can and basically have too mask and paint the stripes. Tight turns and thin accent lines makes for a tedious stripe job.

Below is the result and albeit not 100% perfect about as close as I can do but at least once clear coated and finished should look great.

Sorry about the picture if its grainy its the best I can do.

So as it stands I have 7 vehicles in line for clear coating. I still have yet to paint the flames as I have been trying to locate, ok , get someone to answer the phone, at a hobby shop about 7 miles from me that supposedly carries the clear masking sheets. If I cannot get them today I will have to trek up to Chandler and loose about 2 hours.

I am still having major computer problems but figured out a way to ...... well delay the inevitable which is buying a new computer. I did delete a lot of large pictures that I had saved which freed up some space but its either buy an external hard drive or new puter. Either way its gonna cost money.

So I do have a little rant.......its a weird rant....... its about shopping carts.

Well on my latest trip to Walmart I of course grab a shopping cart. Now Walmart has 100's of shopping carts and I get every shitty, wobbly tire, pull to the right or left, squeaky, thumping tire one they have. Mind you its NOT the same cart, just that every cart or almost it seems is the same way. So the first thing you think is, well don't take a shitty cart. HA !!!!!!! Like thats possible when they have a brick entry way and a cobblestone section between there and the actual lane into the store. See, there is about 30 feet of rocky (lol) floor to get to smooth floor and by then your in the store and going back isn't an option. I have done it only to get another WORSE cart. That floor prevents you from knowing if your getting a good cart or not so its a crap shoot every time you enter the store.

This all being said..... its like WTF is wrong with Walmart. They don't know they have sooooooooo many crappy carts ? People don't complain about them ? I mean really.... why cant they get them fixed ? Seems to me that its a majority of tire problems. Maybe there isn't a company to do that. Maybe this is Gods way of telling me I need to get out of this business and get into the shopping cart repair business. Hmm...... its gotta be something. Maybe its just God telling me to STOP GOING TO WALMART !!!!

OK ...... im out

WOW . . . Amazing job on the stripes John.

I can attest to the fact that the stripe does look a lot better! I saw a bigger (and less grainy) picture of it.

    Good luck with the computer.

    Oh . . . . BTW . . . do you know what PC stands for . . . . . Pile of Crap!
