Thursdays mutterings which include Wednesday

So there was no update yesterday and actually todays will not be that eventful either.

Basically Tuesday (blogged on Wednesday) was spent working on little things that needed to be done. One of which was the cleaning and molding of the 20" Magnum 500 wheels for the last Concept Cuda as I explained in an earlier post. Problem was I had to redo the mold some 3 times and finally gave up and used the longer set silicone product instead of the quick set. This meant building a mold box from scratch.

See the quick set (have used a lot) is a 2 part clay type putty that you kneed together until mixed.... then mold it in whatever shape you want and push your master piece into it for molding, 20 minutes later its done. Problem is this product while looking smooth before pushing the master into it does not show the imperfections that lay underneath after cured. So after each of my attempts I had wheels that were in need of more work that I didn't have time to do. That is why I finally went with the old reliable poured silicone mold product (8 hours set). But this is of course more time consuming.

Now with that done Tuesday I could pour wheels yesterday and get them coated and sprayed with a chrome spray. I hate not being able to chrome wheels but even the product thats made to look like chrome (Alcad) is not really that good and the process to apply it is a pain too (must cover everything in gloss black first) and it still will rub off with your fingers.

So today I will be polishing out and final assembling the Elke for shipping. My customer was going to be gone until today. So I will get it shipped today and he should have it tomorrow as he is nice and close in CA.

I will also get this last Cuda, Black baby , shipped today after I get some pictures taken. I did realized also yesterday that the mounting of these wheels was not a walk in the park. See the way the factory wheels are made then have a hollow cylinder on the backside of the wheel. These new wheels don't have that so I have to build the backside so the rotor and brake caliper are working and viewable.

Long story short I did learn a lot on these cars but thats what all of this is about right. Learning as I go.

Not to dive into something else in detail but I had been working on a little convenience product for the kitchen that after getting enough feedback on decided to file a provisional patent for yesterday. This took a few hours out of my day but after a couple of the females inquired about more specifics as to how it would be made I decided I didn't want to get scooped on the creation. It was funny since women normally wouldn't care so I felt maybe there husbands were really asking the questions. So after re doing all the drawings and descriptions clean and clear for the patent office I got that all filed. Guess we will see...... I do believe this will get approved unlike the last one I filed  (different product) which wasn't.

I did however get another car taken apart and spent some time on the phone with a couple customers so all was not lost. I will however be back at it today long and hard.

OK...... I'm out !

Oh yeah..... pictures of the Cuda (its sweet)  later or tomorrow.
