Wednesdays day of rekoning
First off I to thank off you in regard to your comments on yesterday Tuesday 1/2 posting about the Corvette color. With all your comments its a resounding 8-0 as too the color matching.
Now...... Pete's comment about checking the color match at the dealer or supplying a bolt is a little extreme. This is an 07 Corvette and Dupont does make a formula for it so I don't think that would be something that needs to be done. Now..... if you had a 65 Plymouth and had it repainted but were not sure it was 100% accurate then yes sending me a sample makes it easier to match. Or...... as I had with a undercover state police car years ago Ford actually had 4 variations of his color so he sent me a paint sample to mix off of. In this case.... it should be standard issue.
I will make two more comments on this. The first is, while I never got picture I might not have demanded one based on the car being a new car in real life and it being (what I thought) was a standard repaint. The second comment is that the actual picture file name was Picture 8. This does make me wonder if it took 8 shots to get even this color variation which nobody really sees. At this point I am still not sure what I want to offer if anything. Filtercalvo (Doug) said.... offer to repaint it at a price but only if he supplies me a part or paint sample off the car.
One thing I have learned in this business is Dupont is not 100% correct all the time with there color formulas. Heck no paint manufacturer is. I know for a fact the even the factories are not correct every time as paints get mixed in batches and there is always the possibility of slight variances.
OK....... well on to other things. I did get this Chevelle assembled. I forgot it had the Black hood stripe so I had to add that late yesterday. Actually it turned out ok. I first masked and shot it in gloss Black but being Mr Speedy sometimes I pulled the tape off too soon and it took the thin lines with it. So instead of trying to fix that I stripped all the Black off the hood and decided to cut some Black decal paper up to fit. So here are a couple shots...... though they suck, LMAO. I shot them at 6:30 yesterday and will reshoot them today in better sunlight.

In trying to get the rear tires under the fender lip correctly it makes the car look like the front end is too high so I will have to find out if they want me to lower it. The real cars front end does sit lower but this is just a standard El Cheapo Ertl Chevelle so we will see what she says.
Ok......... Im out !

John,
This web page might help to explain why your attempts to please the orange corvettes owner will be diffucult. Maybe he should read this as well to help him understand the diffuculty in matching autobody paints exactly even with the codes.
Oh yeh, I don't see any appreciable difference in the model vs. the real car color (at least in the photo which by the way is poorly laid out and exposed).

John, that Chevelle looks great. As for the color match, it looks perfect to me.
