Late late Monday.......
Ok........ this is a late entry and there will be a short one tomorrow but I am changing things around a little on the blog. While I appreciate all the people who do read this daily I need to make some internal changes for various reasons and one of the things thats going to be effected will be this blog.
I am not ....... I repeat NOT going to stop blogging but for the next 6 weeks or so I will be pretty much giving one line updates on the projects I worked on the day before. I will explain why in the next paragraph.
Over the weekend while I was working on the decals for a Sheriff's Police vehicle I realized that this particular car had been here way too long. So much so that I decided to take inventory of everything I had in house to see where I was with things. First off, the police car customer I have done other cars for so he never once asked me where the car was but thats the point. I shouldn't be asked..... things should flow and even with problems I should hit respectable finish times but here in lies the problem.
As of this morning I have in house 71 customer projects. This does NOT include the 16 that are on their way from Mr Mustang bringing it to 87. Nor does this include the 144 unit van job, the 6 Chevelle convertible conversion project or the 18, 63 Chevy project. Let alone my Buick door conversion and another little project im working on with a diecast dealer.
The positive is im not lacking work...... the negative is, as I have said before, when something goes wrong it backs up everyone and I mean EVERYONE. So what I plan on doing it changing my focus a little..... my intent is to complete and ship at least 25 projects by the end of July. I normally shoot for 10..... if their are problems its less.
Mind you im not going to bang boom zoom them out the door...... but the ones that are of the easier version to complete. Perfect example...... this police car. While I did spend some 3 hours Saturday and will spent about another hour tomorrow getting the decals printed and applied, all I have to do is clear the car, polish and assemble it and its out the door. This car, even though it is time consuimg to create the emblems its still a rather quick car to finish.
Now if you all think 25 is a lot lets remember that last week I clear coated 10 cars... they will all be gone within 2 weeks ? I hope. The next batch of cars to get painted are already up to 7. So you can see this might actually be accomplish able.
So my plan is to focus on projects and less on other things during the day one is the hour or more a day it takes me to blog every morning. So this is what im planning on doing.
First off...... I will still post pictures but hopefully........ every morning, I will give an update on the car im working on and what I did to it. Not any in detail stuff just quickie updates. Today alone I worked on 7 cars..... might not sound like a lot but the things I did were a lot. I was in the shop at 7:30..... its now 6:00. I stopped to eat 2 sandwiches at lunchtime while I was answering emails. You get the point.
Anyway...... this is what needs to be done. I hope you all keep checking in and as the easier projects get done I can spend more time on the harder ones which I do like even if I bitch about it all the time. If your a customer....... check every day.... read the description of the car and you will get your update. If its not mentioned check back the next day. I have A LOT of projects you guys have never heard of... because I don't put everyone on here so you might be surprised.
Ok...... im out !

Be sure that when you have the compressor fired up that you air gun your keyboard to clean out the breadcrumbs as the keys will start sticking and all you will do is repeat yourself. Okay I thought it was funny and the customer is always right right right???

John, as repeat customer I know what its like when the box arrives from CDR. I am sure all the customers will be looking forward to seeing thier dreams come to life when they do get that box. I have and will continue to check the blog daily, as well as the weekly calls. Good luck getting all these projects done, as I still have a few I want to get done.

Hi John, I know what this car means to you so there is the rush to have it completed. Joe

Of course I am anxious to see my project finished but high quality detail work like you do shouldn't be rushed. Hang in there and keep enjoying what you do. "All work and no play makes John grumpy" so take some time for you to.
